Candlestick Trading Forum Stock Chat Log, April 9, 2003

guest_candlestick1: not many here today

kermitp: Man, I closed 9 positions today. Did not like the market movement. Fortunately, most were for profit. 2 were CSF picks, the others mine.

DarylThompson: I am here now - minor emergency that had to be taken care of

guest_candlestick1: that was wise to close, this market needed to close strong today, we may be in for down move for a few days

guest_candlestick1: both the Nas and the DOW looked too weak on the close

guest_candlestick1: However, we had quite a few positions that held up well

guest_candlestick1: tomorrow would look to short CBK and MLNM

guest_candlestick1: still will be buyers of WEBX

kermitp: The market is certainly being controlled by the Bears. Just no good news to drive things up and stocks are not in a good shorting position either.

kermitp: I hope so I bought WEBX and CTMI at the OPEN

guest_candlestick1: A kicker tomorrow is NCR

kermitp: Also, bought MO, CBM and TECH today none did much good.

guest_candlestick1: need to see bonds coming back down before the market turns back up

tiga1: I came so close to closing my CBK short on that run up. Didn't take out the highs from two days ago so I held. Conf call in process. Hoping for no real positive news.

guest_VJnet: Do you think YHOO results will impact market tomorrow?

kermitp: Do you think ASYT is going to move upward I've lost several times on this one. May have to quit buying it

guest_candlestick1: CBK seems to still be down

guest_candlestick1: Give ASYT some more time, the gap up is the message

guest_candlestick1: ACE can still be shorted

kermitp: What's your opinion of AKS, CCI, DROY and FILE?

guest_candlestick1: an off the record pick for tomorrow is ICUI, be careful, not a heavily traded stock

guest_candlestick1: AKS is a buy

bsears: test

guest_guest: test

guest_candlestick1: CCI overbought but still in uptrend, stay long until you see a definite sell signal

guest_caegan: question about kickers:I don't find them in other candle reference books. Why?

kermitp: That should have been DROOY, what your opinion?

guest_candlestick1: DROOY is a buy

guest_candlestick1: FILE came up on my search last night as a buy

kermitp: Mine too but I did not get in, too bad it was up today for the third day.

guest_candlestick1: commodity traders, will be shorting feeder cattle and live cattle on lower opens tomorrow

DarylThompson: Kickers - Greg Morris calls them "kicking patterns"

guest_VJnet: HD had doji on Tuesday... down day today. Does this signal down for tomorrow?

guest_candlestick1: All the golds and mining stocks look good

guest_Stixman: How can that be, it's stochastics are about 40-60% (FILE)

guest_caegan: ty, Daryl

guest_candlestick1: HD would be shorting at these levels'

guest_Duffer: Do the CANDLES on the kickers need to be long or can they be hammer?

kermitp: Daryl did you find or make a place on the website for the chats?

guest_Stixman: HD had a harami confirmed by a long black candle (Bearish)

guest_candlestick1: FILE breaking out above the recent peak on a stochastics uptrend

guest_candlestick1: HD more the Meeting Line signal of two days ago

DarylThompson: Chats are on the website now. Have to click on "Eavesdrop On The Latest Candlestick Trading Forum Chat!” on Home Page

guest_candlestick1: for those that can not short this market, buy the golds tomorrow.

DarylThompson: I am in the process of revamping the entire site to make it easier to get to everything - but will take awhile

guest_candlestick1: I don't think this market wants to go down too much, there were too many strong stocks today

DarylThompson: Did anybody get SHRP before today's 11% runup?

guest_candlestick1: especially if we see the bond market act strong tomorrow, then the DOW will be down

dalau55: candle, what do you use to monitor the bond market? Is there a web site?

guest_candlestick1: I use CQG software for live charts

guest_candlestick1: anybody see any good charts this afternoon?

guest_Caegan: only sad charts

guest_forum: do you like FTI and OEI?

guest_candlestick1: This market tells us to be in few more shorts

guest_candlestick1: FTI has a good buy chart but look at the potential

guest_Duffer: GTK

guest_candlestick1: A good move well make this a 5% move, not worth it

guest_guest9: GFI

guest_candlestick1: same with OEI

guest_caegan: What's your opinion re:EBKR now?

kermitp: I like HPT, LZB, TSG, WMAR and RA. RA vol was 10 fold.

guest_candlestick1: GFI very good, again a mining stock

guest_candlestick1: RA good chart, what is the dividend yield?

DarylThompson: 9.04%

guest_candlestick1: LZB good and conservative

kermitp: TC has it in the 97% for Dividend

guest_candlestick1: RA good 20% upside plus a 9% dividend yield, to a bad total return

guest_caegan: does anyone know a good place to find stocks due to pay a dividend--where to get the date of record?

guest_Stixman: Why are we looking at dividend yield?? Isn't that a fundamental??

kermitp: Please explain that last part RA good 20% upside plus a 9% dividend yield, to a bad total return

guest_caegan: because if you are holding the stock on the date of record, you get the dividend . . .someone correct me if I'm wrong about this.

guest_candlestick1: if somebody is looking for a good long term hold, the combination would be worthwhile

DarylThompson: I think he meant "not too bad a total return".

guest_candlestick1: thanks daryl

guest_candlestick1: we need some help, we will be revamping the site, would be glad to hear any suggestions from everybody to make it better

guest_candlestick1: GLG is breaking out

DarylThompson: we are going to be adding tons of new content in the future, and want to make sure it is all very easy to get to

guest_candlestick1: Back to WEBX, we recommended it during the day today, it is still a good buy on a strong open tomorrow

guest_candlestick1: One stock that really needs to be watched is OMG, if it closes above $10.00 then it can run

DarylThompson: If people feel safer playing mutual funds, GOLDX is good for the gold sector.

guest_candlestick1: RGLD another mining stock that should be bought tomorrow

guest_candlestick1: NCR has a kicker, watch that one for a strong open

guest_forum: Candle, any new books or ebooks coming out soon?

guest_candlestick1: So this makes for a strategy that should include several gold and mining stocks over the next few days as well as being short a couple additional stocks tomorrow

guest_caegan: When a chart on daily has a kicker, does the presence of bear candles at the close have impact on decision to enter?

guest_candlestick1: Will have an option trading e-book on the site in the next week or so.

guest_caegan: i've been told that whatever the direction at the close determines direction on the open ... which may be unrelated to overall outcome. Or not.

guest_David Elliott: for those with the " Candle Book" I see SOPA signals on many of the examples, IE page 133

guest_David Elliott: SOAP

guest_candlestick1: Caegan , give example

guest_caegan: NCR

guest_caegan: looking at 5 minute chart, end of the day

guest_candlestick1: An intraday chart does not have anything to do with what the daily signal illustrates, if you buy and sell based on the daily signals, then the intraday signals are just noise

guest_caegan: thx

guest_candlestick1: There is still a lot of money to be made in this market, knowing it will be sloppy for the next few days.

guest_candlestick1: Not enough stocks sold off today to fear a long downtrend

guest_candlestick1: This leads me to believe that we will see a hammer day tomorrow, down big early and see buying on the close

guest_candlestick1: This will create some good shorts in the morning

guest_candlestick1: and there are enough good buy signals showing up that buying on the dip will catch a rebound by the end of the day

guest_candlestick1: That is all I got - anybody got anything they want to share?

guest_forum: Is anticipating the market direction important to your candlestick method?

guest_David Elliott: top two sectors today GOLD, Silver, in line with your picks

guest_candlestick1: Yes, you want to be trading with the trend, at least the majority of the portfolio, no sense swimming against the current

guest_candlestick1: Gold, silver yes, a lot of excellent buy signals

kermitp: I'm not sure I agree with your assessment of today's market. Only 2728 of 6907 were up today and of the ones that opened up (2838) over 1071 closed lower and yesterday. While the one that Opened down (2500) only 688 closed higher than yesterday. To me that…

guest_candlestick1: Another advantage of knowing which stocks are getting buying coming into them is that they hold up fairly well in big sell off days like today

kermitp: That indicates a negative bias.

guest_candlestick1: I am gauging the strength on the fact that a lot of stocks although they closed lower, did not have large losses

guest_forum: Do you remember any candlestick trade losses due to market direction?

guest_candlestick1: yes many, but remember, the signals give you the better PROBABILITIES of being in the right trade

kermitp: I agree with that - no large losses and that is a positive indication. Thanks for the session. Gotta go now.

guest_candlestick1: Many times, signals will tell you what to do and by the end of the day, the market creates signals that negated the signals that got you in

guest_candlestick1: This makes for quick losses, hopefully small and longer gains bigger

guest_forum: Will a market direction cause you to sell trade positions?

guest_candlestick1: Thanks for showing up tonight, we will get this session more topical as soon as we improve this chat room format

bsears: thanks enjoyed the forum

guest_caegan: I vote for PalTalk w/ lg audience capability. Thanks for the class. 'Night.

dalau55(energetic): candle I came in late, did you say anything about ISSX?

tiga1: Can I make a suggestion? Whenever one scrolls up in the chat stream, they get bumped right to the end when a new entry is made. This should be changed to prevent that.

guest_candlestick1: Knowing that a market direction will cause a position that is getting iffy to get more iffy makes us get out of that position

guest_Stixman: once you press options and reset the reload interval how do you get out of option section without exiting the chat?

guest_candlestick1: ISSX is one of those iffy situations, if the market looks weak in the morning and ISSX looks like it will be weaker on the open, then it is time to get out

guest_candlestick1: we will post this chat, thanks for coming

guest_forum: Thanks for another great learning session.

DarylThompson: Stixman - click on Members

dalau55(energetic): thanks candle

Wave834: Did the chat time change and if so what time does it now start?

guest_Stixman: Thanks Daryl!

DarylThompson: No - started at 4:00 PM CST - got started a little late

guest_candlestick1: 4;00 CST we got started a few minutes late due to scheduling problem

Wave834: Thanks, when will this chat be posted?

DarylThompson: I will post by the end of day tomorrow - maybe sooner

guest_David Elliott: Thanks, great to sharpen the candle stick skills!

guest_David Elliott: SIL, nice candles and Silver stock, SOAP buy Tuesday

guest_candlestick1: yes like this better than RGLD, may we recommend it for tomorrow?

guest_David Elliott: Yea, Two day' s late, for the SOAP signal :-)

guest_candlestick1: still room in it

guest_David Elliott: Great

Wave834: Was the signal the long white candle after the doji with vol on SIL?

guest_candlestick1: SIL yes, that was a gravestone doji

guest_David Elliott: FYI on SIL 50 and 200 day avg at the same price of $14.32-38

guest_David Elliott: Last bearish engulfing candle that failed was at the 200 avg.

guest_David Elliott: History of stock suggests that it observes the 200 day avg. and reacts to it, both bouncing and breaking.

guest_forum: When was the bearish engulfing candle that failed?

guest_candlestick1: forum, is this a trick question?

guest_forum: Not a trick question. Just don't know where it is.

guest_candlestick1: on SIL at $14.50

guest_forum: SIL came down from the bearish engulfing candle at $14.50

guest_David Elliott: 3/17 SIL gapped up against the 200 day average and failed, producing the large engulfing candle

guest_David Elliott: typical pattern of stocks and 200 day moving averages.

guest_David Elliott: They break, then go back and try to retest...only to fail in most cases.

guest_guest: It also has been failing to BO of the 20 ema since early Feb. Do you think it will succeed this time at 13.20?

guest_David Elliott: broke thru the 15 mov. avg today

guest_guest: I guess you're saying that the next significant overhead resistance is 200MA. Is that correct?

sunriseb: could I get some thoughts on VPI?

guest_David Elliott: Yes, 200 avg, the big hurdle.

guest_candlestick1: VPI bullish engulfing pattern

guest_candlestick1: VPI would be a buyer on a strong open

guest_David Elliott: MDR?

guest_candlestick1: MDR will move up but is not a signal, so would expect a bounce, then a pullback before the next leg up

guest_grinder: Hi Just joined when did the chat start? How long will it continue?

guest_forum: Why is MDR a Kicker, candle not long enough?

guest_forum: Sorry, why isn't MDR a Kicker.

guest_candlestick1: MDR the open of the white candle needs to be at or above the open of the black candle

guest_candlestick1: Grinder we are done but I will answer any questions you may have
