I can't get any of the archived Chat Videos to play on my pc. Media Player will give sound but does not have the right "compression" for video and quick
time just locks up. Any ideas????
thanks |

Usually the problem is because you do not have the latest version of Windows Media Player.
You can download it at:

You might try to right click on the link and save as on your hard drive. Then using windows explorer double left click on it. This should open it with the media player. This take the internet out of the picture.
You mention "Quick time" hangs up. That is most likely the problem. It says you need window media player. It is mostly you have Quicktime define as the default program for AVI files that happens when you install quicktime unless you say no when it ask if you want to set the default programs.
In window explorer rather than a double left click, right click and then use "open with". This will give you a chance to select the window media player. |

Ensure you have window media player 9 or higer. I use version 10. You can get it at this link.

Fellas
I just tried it and it works fine for me. I did it via the "Save Target As" method. KermitP's suggestion to download the latest Media Player would be your best first option. My media player had no problems pulling up the file and playing it.

I can download the file (saved to my Hard Drive) and played in the latest release of Windows Media Player (v10), but I don't get the synchronized video. All that I get is the audio.
If anyone can help, we'd all greatly appreciate it.
Thanks. |

I notice that right before Windows Media Player loads the file it says error loading codec, then just plays the audio.
Anyone know what codec I need for these chat session videos? |

If the chat videos won't work for you then the member area videos arn't going to work for you either so you need to figure this out before joining and finding out that you can't play any of the videos. Good luck. |

Has anybody figured out how to get the video portion working in the archive chat sessions? If it is working on some peoples Windows Media Player and not others, there must be a codec required in WMP that we don't have.
Any suggestions? |

I couldn't get the vedio to work so I downloaded Windows Media Player(9) and tried it again and it still didn't work. I then started up my other computer and it wouldn't play the vedios either. I then dowloaded the new player and that one didn't work either. I don't think the problem is on my end. Any suggestions welcomed. |

Tim,
Thanks so much. That's exactly what I was looking for.
That codec did the trick. |

Administrators,
Just for the ease of future users, you should include the link to #2 above on the chat session instruction page. It's a very important piece to viewing the chats.
I like this site and just want to make it easier for others to do the same.
Just an FYI. |
